William Wood (zoologist)

William Wood (1774–1857), was an English zoologist and entomologist. William Wood trained as a surgeon but left the medical profession to become a natural history bookseller, publisher and naturalist. Wood was the author of several natural history books, especially on the Mollusca. He was also a Fellow of the Royal Society and a Fellow of the Linnean Society.
